Doing Business in China: Dealing with Legal Uncertainty

Greg Wajnowski is currently Managing Director – Mergers & Acquisitions and Chief Supervisor – Joint Ventures for GE in Greater China and Mongolia. His responsibilities include providing legal guidance and support for mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures and for overseeing GE’s numerous joint ventures in China.

Prior to his current role, Greg was the senior legal counsel for GE Power in Asia, with a focus on China. His responsibilities included advising the GE Power businesses on a wide range of legal matters, particularly strategic sales, technology licensing, acquisition and joint venture initiatives.

Greg joined GE in Hong Kong in 1993 as General Counsel for GE China, and was subsequently Asia Regional Counsel for GE’s Lighting business, based in Singapore. He joined GE Power in 2001. Before joining GE, he was a partner at a US law firm, based in Hong Kong. He has lived and worked in Asia for much of the past 35 years.

Greg is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the Columbia University School of Law. He has also studied Chinese in Taiwan and Chinese law in the People’s Republic of China, and speaks and reads Chinese.
