The American Committee on Foreign Relations (ACFR) seeks to expand the involvement of students in support of ACFR’s mission – serving the national security interests of the United States through constructive face-to-face dialogue between citizens, foreign policy experts and other professionals in the field of international relations. Pursuant to its mission ACFR hosts an annual two-day Young Leaders Initiative (YLI) conference in Washington, D.C. Highlights of previous conference highlights include dinner with an ambassador, policy briefings at the Department of State, Woodrow Wilson Center, Heritage Foundation and U.S. Institute of Peace.
The Tulsa Committee on Foreign Relations, the local affiliate of the ACFR, funds full scholarships for two Tulsa students to participate in the Young Leaders Initiative conference. Requirements:
- Undergraduate or graduate college student
- GPA of 3.4
- 500-word essay on a topic of foreign policy/international relations of your choosing
- 300-word essay describing your academic course of study or activities in college related to foreign policy/international relations and a possible career in government or an NGO
- Willingness to serve as YLI ambassador to the Tulsa community
- 2 letters of recommendation
